Root Canals

When the pulp of a tooth becomes inflamed or infected, a root canal procedure becomes necessary. The inflammation or infection could be due to decay, repeated dental procedures to the same tooth, or a chip or crack in the tooth. If left untreated, severe pain can be felt or the tooth could abscess. Conversely, when treated, bone is preserved instead of lost and the original tooth is saved for good chewing and space maintaining.

Call to Make an Appointment for Root Canal Treatment!

Most of the time, we recommend a crown be placed on top of a tooth that’s undergone a root canal, as the root canal procedure can leave a tooth dry and brittle. The crown helps to add stability. In some cases, a post is placed in the root as well to give the crown even more support.

If you have any questions at all about what a root canal involves, please do not hesitate to call us. We want to make sure you completely understand all that comes with having the procedure done.
